Slade Oxfordshire Fire Service Visit

Pre-Prep Visits

Rye's Pre-Prep pupils were delighted to welcome the Slade Oxfordshire Fire Service to Rye this week.

The children learnt that the Fire Service do not just save people from fires or rescue cats stuck up trees but they protect people from any number of potential hazards such as chemical leaks, floods and car and river accidents. They were intrigued to learn about what kind of protective clothing the staff have to wear, especially the body heat camera and the equipment that was in the fire engine was incredible. They could not believe there was 3600 litres of water stored in the fire engine and that it has four ladders. The children will now know how to be safe when there is a fire and they all said they would be checking if they have smoke alarms at home. An informative day!
